2018 Mercedes C300 Diesel - EGR Fault

What is a EGR valve?

EGR is a short term for Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve. The EGR valve regulates the flow of exhaust gas back into the intake manifold, where it mixes with the incoming air and fuel.

EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve) failure is most commonly caused by a build-up of carbon and soot deposits within the valve and associated passages. This buildup can restrict airflow and stop it from functioning completely.

If an oil leak from the turbocharger contaminates the exhaust, it can lead to increased carbon buildup in the EGR system.

Other causes are also electrical faults with this system.

Unfortunately this Mercedes was experiencing such issue.

Within 45 minutes of arrival we were able to apply our EGR solution. This permanently closes the valve and only allows clean air through the system stopping carbon buildup around the intake system, making the car run a lot healthier.
