Audi A1 1.6 Tdi - issues after being tuned by another company
Here we have an unfortunate customer who had put there trust into getting there car remapped by another company and is now experiencing DPF issues.
Remapping does not have to be for performance but can also be for other issues such as Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve shutting (EGR Valve) like this customer had requested from the previous tuner.
Unfortunately for this customer had gone to a company with lack of knowledge about these engines.
On these engines any EGR solution will zero all diesel particulate filter (DPF Filter) hysteria maps as the valve is no longer operating. Hysteria maps are used for DPF regeneration. As the maps are removed due to EGR delete the DPF will not regenerate properly and eventually cause a DPF blockage…
This now has lead the customer in a worse situation than they originally had as DPF blockage can cause serious back pressure and cause components such as the turbo to fail.
After a long discussion with the customer, they chosen to go with a DPF & EGR solution on the vehicle (which is the correct way if the EGR is not getting replaced)
If DPF solution is not possible or viable we advise to downgrade the software to a pre-diesel waste gate version at the minimum.
